At this moment I am looking at a shitty guitar player with a terrible voice. He's up on a stage mixing politics, humor and ideology with an acoustic blend of folk, punk and metal. Oddly enough, there's an element to this guy's tunes that mainstream music deeply lacks. I've known Lyle Lanigan all my life and to sum him up he's a music freak, college grad, political nut, unemployed bum who's songwriting has a creative touch for those of us who thirst for something more. His music combines both extremes with influences from Cat Stevens to Slayer and Johnny Cash to Iggy and The Stooges. A Lyle Lanigan album has it all from brutality to melody. Not to mention he's done it all independently on his own label. Lyle hails from a no-name town in Maine and is the former singer/bass of the greatest unknown rock and roll band, Crippled Midget. You might catch this shithead playing in a bar with his metal band Souls of Earth or maybe doing a solo acoustic thing at some coffee shop. If you have a dirty sense of humor and an unorthodox interest in music and politics...you just might like Lyle Lanigan.
