The music of Kristin Shout combines the dark realism of Kurt Wiel, the gritty sensuality of Eartha Kitt, and the stark truthfulness of Ani Difranco. Her voice has been compared to Patti Smith and PJ Harvey and her songs have been compared to no one. Ten years of lauded performance art, poetry and music have led to her debut CD. It is dark cabaret anti-folk that attacks with ferociousness, but invites and involves with truth.
Kristin's music career started on the streets of Paris in 1994. Over the next five years she traveled and played in such diverse European cultures as: Belgium, Holland, Germany, Spain, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and, of course, France. Upon her return to Chicago (and its infamous Wicker Park arts scene), she has continued to build a following through desire, energy, and talent. She was a member of the ensemble that won the 1991 National Poetry Slam. Award wining |
