breadfoot hails from the midwest. he likes strong black coffee and favors redwing boots. he’s inclined to take his whiskey neat and his eggs are always sunny side up with tobasco.
regarding his music, breadfoot’ll go on to tell ya that he is just a flat picker trying to make the right noises at the right time. he says he’s often accused of playing delta style, but then he adds, “there are those folks who tell you that my music goes beyond the delta. and recalls to mind the american primitive guitar work of the late, great john fahey.”
breadfoot live is just as much a soda pop and a game of checkers at the general store, as he is a cold beer on the stoop. a lot of talking. a fair amount of nonsense. and every now and then he might figure to shut up long enough to pick a tune.
this past year has left breadfoot a little worse for the wear and tear. all the trials and tribulations aside, (yeah, yeah, sure, sure. no one said it was supposed to be easy ), breadfoot did manage to get that live uk cd put together. it’s called “i’m okay, yer uk”. if’n ya want you can go take a look see on breadfoots’ music page, or click on the link below you can go by www.cdbaby.com and get one for yerself.
let’s see, oh yeah, last fall breadfoot made another run over to the uk. he kicked several solo shows and the rest of the dates scheduled were with just about to burn. huh ? just about to burn ? that’s this new band thang that breadfoot went and got his self mixed up in. it features paleface on guitars, vocals, melodica and harmonica, lil’mo on drums and vocals, and breadfoot, well sir, he’s got slide guitar and six string banjo chores.
should also tell ya this, just bout to burn has done went and made a record. ten catchy little numbers that’ll get ya tapping yer foot and singing along. the good folks at art monkey records are putting it out.. so, yeah go on by their site www.armonkeyusa.com and take a look see. it was recorded at court metrage studios, nyc. paul kostabi twisted the knobs. and scott fragala, from the larval organs, he laid down some bass-ness.
What some other folks done said;
“ ... gritty guitar picking and homespun wisdom...”
- London Time Out
“Support act was excellent too - a fellow called Breadfoot; instrumentals on Dobro, kinda like Fahey. Funny guy too....”

- from the Giant Sand message board, 20 may 03
“It’s always fun catching a support act, with no expectations at all and as a result being completely and thoroughly entertained. This was indeed the case with the last date of Breadfoot’s English tour. The Chalk Farm Enterprise’s upstairs venue is a nice place to catch some quality soundz…it has nice ambiance, tables, chairs and punters that f*ck off after the first very awful band has finished, (cruel to be kind, innit)…leaving us…the sussed few (ahem) to sit down, take a weight off and imbibe some good ones (eh?). Breadfoot is a young gent from Ohio who plays marvelous countrified instrumentals that call to mind a punkier John Fahey. Gorgeous fluid passages of bluesy guitar that seem as if they were custom-built to soothe the soul and cure all ills. It was a pleasure to be swathed and coddled (?) in wave upon wave of sweet electric blues. BF has a beard that would make ZZ Top fume with envy and he has been adopted by the anti-folk fraternity in NYC. Well done chaps…you made a sweet move.

“Breadfoot is the perfect melody that plays in my head. Instrumental music from a spine-tingling dobro. That’s all you really need.”

“All instro folk-pickin’ is what breadfoot is all about. Think John Fahey and Leo Kottke and you’re heading in the right direction. The guitar work on these 12 songs is the voice and breadfoot knows how to make it say what he wants with a lot of heart and soul, so much so, that you don’t even notice or feel the need to hear any vocals. breadfoot is a gem of a disc for folks who love heartfelt acoustic music”
